Sportitalia: Milan move ahead of Fiorentina in race for young Verona star

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have moved ahead of Fiorentina in the race to sign young right-back Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona, a report claims.

According to information from Sportitalia, the Rossoneri are serious about adding the 2003-born Terracciano to the squad.

It is not clear whether they want to sign the Italian defender in the January or summer transfer window. There is not a clear need for a right-back at the club in January, with centre-backs, a midfielder and a striker seeming to be the priority.

Fiorentina have been the front runners to sign Terracciano but Milan may have leapfrogged them.

The 20-year-old has spent his entire career at Verona, having been born in the city. In the 2022/23 campaign, he played 20 Serie A matches but he is already on 18 for the 2023/24 season, and has amassed many more minutes on the pitch than last season.

He is a constant starter for the Gialloblu but he does only have one assist to his name for the season so far.

One of his selling points is that he is an incredibly versatile player. Whilst right-back is his known position, he can play on the left or in the centre of defence. He has also played across the midfield during his short career.

The news of Milan’s move for Terracciano was also confirmed by Antonio Vitiello of Milan News, who said that talks are in progress for a deal.

    1. Idk with no growth decree he has no choice but to scout Italy. These are the type of players Milan must sign now. No more talented players ready for a move to a big club only young Italians who don’t have to worry about competition for their place.
