SportsDigitale: Fenerbahce director Italy-bound to try secure Krunic

By Oliver Fisher -

Fenerbahce’s sporting director Mário Branco seems determined to sign Rade Krunic again after attempts in the summer and he will soon travel to Italy, a journalist has claimed.

There was some doubt about Krunic’s position in the squad at the end of last season given that the decision was made to shift to a 4-3-3 formation, but Stefano Pioli decided to put him at the centre of his plans by making him the defensive midfielder.

It was a tall order for a player who had previously played many positions. While things started well, an injury sustained against Hellas Verona meant it was time for Yacine Adli to be tried in a deeper role (his rollercoaster deserves a separate analysis) and Krunic lost his place in the hierarchies.

Fenerbahce tried in the summer without managing to get a deal done, and Yağız Sabuncuoğlu of SportsDigitale has provided an update. He claims their sporting director Mário Branco will travel to Italy shortly to discuss the Bosnian and to try ‘convince AC Milan’.

  1. I think executive management made it very clear to Pioli in the meeting that he could do whatever the hell he wants except for starting Krunic ever again.
