Musah Conceicao

MN: Musah set to start vs. Inter – American midfielder could unlock Conceicao’s Milan

Fluidity is one of the biggest parts of modern football, and AC Milan could have their own versatile gem in the shape of Yunus Musah.

Since arriving, Musah has been quite bit-part. Two head coaches have struggled to find the American’s best, but Sergio Conceicao could be the man to unlock his best, and in return, he could get the best from Milan.

On Friday evening, the Rossoneri started in the typical 4-3-3 shape, but as the second half started, that quickly changed to a 4-4-2, with Musah sitting on the right flank, and being directly involved in the winning goal.

Conceicao could be able to utilise both systems with the midfielder though. When he joined, it was suggested that his career path was heading towards a central position, with him physically gifted, and this is where the majority of his minutes have come.

It is arguable though, that his best minutes have come out wide, and it could be possible that the midfielder could balance the front line, allowing the opposite winger – probably Leao – to attack with free will.

Should Pulisic also feature, perhaps centrally, the American could move wider to create a 4-3-3, which would see Musah invert.

As Milan News states, the midfielder is set to start against Inter tomorrow, and whilst a 4-3-3 is currently predicted, either system would be possible, and that is solely due to the versatility of Musah and his profile.

  1. The solution for Leao’s absence is Musah at RW and Pulisic at LW, his natural position.
This does mean Bennacer will have to start as a mezzala, but maybe RLC can come on in th3 second half. I know he’s been bad this year but maybe what he needs is to play in his natural position (not DM, not AM)

      1. RLC, Reijnders and Musah were all bought from the Tonali sale money so that we could change to 433.
Pioli used for about 4 serie a games and then gave up on it.
And we’ve been trying to put square pegs in round holes ever since.

        1. There was a ongoing story about how RLC was struggling to gain the fitness ahead of last season. It was never resolved it just disappeared.

His average position per game was consistently higher than Giroud’s despite pretending to play a 433…it was never a 433 even during those initial games…

Signing RLC for that much money to play a position he had never proved to be able to play for a significant period of time was not great. After 2-3 games of back and forth he got a sports hernia…he hasn’t tracked back since…

I do like him has someone to bring off the bench…but Reijnders and Musah are 8s that cover a crazy amount of ground…look forward to seeing more of that…

  2. Not sure if Bennacer is ready for a high tempo derby yet. Maybe RLC can get something out of his game for 65-70 minutes and the Bennacer can come in with fresh legs?

This is Musah’s big chance. If he can show Conceicao that he is reliable in his tactics then he might get a starting position in the team.
He has the physique, he is strong and fast. There is some bad decision making every now and then during matches but with more minutes that can go away.
