CM: Steps forward taken in renewal talks with Bennacer – the optimism is justified

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have reeled off a string of renewals in 2022 so far but there are still two big ones that they want to get over the line in Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao.

Calciomercato.com have provided an update on the situation linked to Bennacer, stating that there has been progress made but the finish line is not yet in sight. The renewal of the Algerian is a little less messy than that of Rafael Leao, for various reasons.

The requests of the 25-year-old are sizeable but not out of budget, the will of the player is clear and puts the continuation of the relationship with the Rossoneri first, assuming that his request for a pay rise is satisfied.

After the last meeting before Christmas, there was a gap of around €500-600k net per season between offer and demand. More meetings will be needed to conclude things, but it is ‘legitimate to be optimistic’.
