Reports: Strasbourg star becomes Milan’s No.1 defensive target – improved offer sent

AC Milan are trying to close a deal for Guela Doue and they are readying a new improved bid to try and convince Strasbourg.

Heading into 2025-26, Emerson Royal is believed to be on his way out, Kyle Walker has gone and there are doubts about Alex Jimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers being natural full-backs. Thus, there is the need for Milan to sign a new starter for the right side of the defence.

One of the targets that has been repeatedly linked is Doue, who Milan actually faced as an opponent during the 2023-24 Europa League tie against Stade Rennais. Now he is at Strasbourg, and Sky reported earlier this week that he has told them he wanted the Rossoneri.

New bid ready for Doue

They also claimed that Igli Tare is preparing a new offer that is higher than the €15m one that was rejected. Gianluca Di Marzio has now confirmed that the Milan management will fire off an improved proposal soon.

After seeing Archie Brown fade away – with the left-back joining Fenerbahce – the Rossoneri are ready to accelerate for Doué. He is ‘the club’s top target’ at the moment, and the idea is to give Massimiliano Allegri at least one new full-back before leaving for the preseason tour in a week.

Guéla Doué made 34 appearances last season, his first for the RCSA after moving from Rennes last summer. According to L’Equipe, the new bid was €18m and it is still not considered enough for the Ligue 1 club, who value him higher.

  1. Sending a bid well below the evaluation maybe seen as an affront and insult. Why waste time. Either send a proper offer if you are really interested or walk away. Increasing your offer by 1-2million when you’re 5-7m below the starting costs is stupidity.
I prefer we go for target we are sure and determined to land. Give a reasonable offer, if it exceeds your budget, what’s the need for haggling for an item you cannot afford when the seller is NOT desperate to sell.
Milan didn’t do their homework properly it seems.
Why would Milan send a jet to pick someone that had no assurances he was coming. if galliani ever came on a jet to get you, he was leaving with you.

  2. The last offer max will be 25M including bonus. 20 M fixed, 2M bonus easy achieve, 3M bonus hard achieve. The easy bonus will be Qualified to european competition 1M, Qualified to UCL 1M. The hard bonus will be 1M for Scudetto, 1M Ballon D’or Winner, 500k best Defender in serie A, 500k Serie A MVP.

    But then Strasbourg will reject

  3. Variation is 20.
    -will you take 15?
    -no
    Will you take 18?
    -no

And then we wonder why clubs don’t cooperate and get frustrated with our offers. Because we literally nickel and dime for every player.

    1. in some cases, i wish it was like that. But, in many cases the scenario is more like
      Valuation is 20
      – will you take 5
      No
      – how about 8?
Many times we sent offers well below market valuation. It is not only a waste of time, but i’d say insulting.

  4. another not realistic idea of Mr Tare. Strasbourg are strongly connected with Chelsea. they will send back Doue to Chelsea or sell player for 30 millions to other club. of course they will decline 18 mln euro offer.
    .
we want Marc Pubill, that should be our club number 1 objective.

  5. This Milan management needs to act fast otherwise they will end up signing the wrong players on the final day of the transfer window. They allowed cuper and brown to slip away and are yet to sign jashiri or bid for Guerra. What kind of indecision is this.

  6. BMW: the car costs 30 thousand
Furlani: but I ily wanna pay 20
BMW: the car costs 30 thousand
    Furlani: ok 21 thousand
BMW: the car costs 30 thousand
    Furlani: ok ok 25 thousand
BMW: the car costs 30 thousand
Furlani: ok ok 27 and that’s it!
BMW: the car costs 30 thousand. Go to Fiat maybe they can help you.

Furlani to Gerry: Gerrybear – I just don’t understand I offered them 27 and they refused!!
Gerry: how much is the car?
Furlani: 30 – and I really like it
Gerry: makes no sense. Why won’t they just take what we offer??
Furlani: I don’t really know, perhaps they don’t really need to sell that car.
Gerry: did you try the Fiat dealership?? They usually have good deals

    1. Erm, have you ever bought a car? No judgement if not, but you buy from the dealer, not the manufacturer. And you can nearly always get a discount (or upgrades) by threatening to buy a similar product from another dealer.

I’m trying to stretch your metaphor but here you need to be buying the car from a private seller and there are multiple people interested. In this case on the market, you can say “fine, I’ll pay 30,000” and the seller can say “ah, I’m going to see if that other guy will pay me 35,000, because I want to buy a more expensive replacement”

  7. 20m for untested FB?
should give it to Theo for 3 or 4 season extention,
get someone as good or better than Theo if this management is serious

  8. I wrote yesterday that Strasbourg would asked about this price because cooperation with Chelsea. I still can’t understand Mr Tare why he can’t fully focus on real goal and talented player as Marc Pubill. let’s go for Marc Pubill. Nelson Semedo is also free agent. When we will buy two guys on this position so Alex Jimenez could be use as the winger.
