Despite the fact that the January window is still over one month away, there continues to be speculation about movements at Milan.
After his derby heroics, a lot of the spotlight is shining on Mike Maignan at the moment, who has a contract which expires at the end of the season. Milan are apparently ready to make him an offer, but in the meantime they are thinking about other areas too.

Regarding the attack, and in particular the fate of Santiago Gimenez, SportMediaset (via MilanNews) are reporting that Sunderland are a team to keep an eye on. They sit seventh in the Premier League having been promoted via the play-offs and are looking for a striker in January.
The Black Cats are pushing for the Mexican and are already in contact with his agent, Rafaela Pimenta. The idea is to offer Milan a paid loan with an obligation to buy under certain conditions, but it remains to be seen if this will satisfy Milan, who paid over €30m to sign him in January.
In the event of Gimenez’s departure, the name sporting director Igli Tare has a name circled in red on his list: Mateo Pellegrino. The Italian striker has four league goals this season and scored a brace at the weekend, but is already valued at €20-25m.
Pellegrino made an impression during the recent 2-2 draw between Milan and the Ducali at the Stadio Tardini, with the striker admitting after the game that he is flattered by the links. Joaquín Panichelli of Strasbourg is the alternative.

Gimenez is back soon and i’m pretty sure he’ll start scoring. the time is perfect for him now. he was off the radar for a while, which should take away some pressure. schedule is a little tighter, opponents are not top, so even as a sub he’ll get enough opportunities. with Salad, Rabiot, Puli on the pitch they’ll feed any striker with good balls and Gimenez is a killer, he just needs to get rolling. we wont get a better one under 50millions.
Regardless of form it would seem like quite the downgrade. Same age as both are24 years old, Gimenez 240 matches and 93 goals, Pellegrino 113 matches and 26 goals. Not sure why Pellegrino is described as an Italian striker either as he was born in Spain and has an Argentine passport as well so unless its because his ancestors was immigrants from Italy leaving him with a 3rd passport I dont know why he is descibed as such.
Either way if we want to buy a new striker it should be a clear upgrade like Vlahovic or getting Lewandowski otherwise don’t even bother.
None of the names mentioned are an upgrade. But Gimenez’ time at Milan is all but over.
Pellegrino its the perfect type of striker for serie A.
Milan should buy tested strikers in serie A, cause Serie A is difficult. I preffer pellegrino instead of Mateta this market, and Lewan after.

The truth is Gimenez is good coming off the bench. He excelled there last year. The problem this year is because of injuries he has been forced to start, and when your legs are just as tired as the defenses, it is harder to be clinical. Now with Puli and Laeo healthy, I agree that Gimenez has a better chance to find his form. And he is certainly as good as all the names being talked bout to replace him
Average player. If they sign Pellegrino it will be another on the list of forward fails at Milan.
