Florenzi Scudetto

CM: Surprise renewal possible for Florenzi – why he is deemed important

Alessandro Florenzi’s worth has not been felt this season on the pitch, as it has in recent years, but there is a chance that the Italian earns an extension with AC Milan.

RedBird and the whole project at Milan is now centred around finding talent in the early stages of their career, and whilst the club would like to purchase the ‘bigger’ players so to speak, there are not the means to do so, as was revealed earlier this season.

However, for young players to develop, there needs to be experience in the dressing room, and Florenzi is a perfect example of this, as recent times have shown.

Calciomercato.com write that the defender has not been able to prove himself on the pitch this season, but history can show us the importance that he has had on this team in recent years.

During the Scudetto season, he was amongst the protagonists, proving useful on and off the pitch, and whilst a serious injury has halted chances of that this season, he has still been a big figure in the dressing room, travelling with the squad regularly.

Unfortunately, that will not be enough to secure a renewal though, and the report states that whilst these traits are appreciated, the defender must display his desire on the pitch, and show that he can still be a player, rather than just a motivator – €3 million salary must also be decreased.

  1. He is Italian (an important matter for so many) a leader with experience, decisive to come in the game and change things, we can negotiate probably an extension with lower liability.

Youth need players with character to look up to

    No brainer keep him

  2. And this moment in time we do not need him, he will be 35 at the beginning of the season, he is very injury prone, slow and honestly past it, we need to think of the future, we have Emerson, Terraciano, what we need to do is buy a very powerful right back, like Vanderson or Jhohan Sebastian Romaña, we could also get a very good Italian to take his place for the list, what guarantee do we have that he won’t get injured soon, and his space will be wasted..

    1. I would love to keep him, he has lots of experience and can be used in the DM(which he has played before) to kill off games or in less important games. Terraciano honestly seems more like a DM to me and a road cone would do a much better job than Emerson. Keep walker for the experience only but not as a starter as well. He’s struggled defensively and doesn’t add much going forward either and Jimenez isn’t a fullback he’s a winger. So we’ll have to dip into the market for another fullback.

    2. Slow? Compared to Leao perhaps but he’s still faster than the average player in Serie A. And in fact he’s FASTER THAN PIERRE KALULU based on the official statistics!!! FFS, if you think Flo is slow and Kalulu isn’t, you’d be a fcng m0ron.

What’s next? Pavlovic is slow? Yeah, we’ve debunked that as BS too as he’s one of fastest CBs in the whole UCL. Top-5.

People and their “X is slow” bs is so hilarious. Always without any facts behind their claims.

  3. If he can still play at all we should keep him, he has always shown a lot of grinta and is a leader off and on the pitch. He still looked competent last season, at times outplaying Calabria (not a high bar lol but still)

  4. I think he should stay after the 1st or 2nd goal he was the first to celebrate and motivated the players giving them tips. He has shown some leadership

  5. Fonseca was using him in a DM role during preseason. Then he got injured and we haven’t seen him since. He was performing well in those preseason games and was decent last season.

If he is looking good in training then he is probably worth the risk of keeping for a lower salary. We have so few Italians in the squad.
