Telegraph: Milan-linked striker banned by Chelsea from first-team training facilities

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan-linked striker Armando Broja will be desperately seeking a new club after Chelsea told him he can’t use the first-team facilities and must train with the U21s.

As was reported by The Daily Telegraph, Broja is among three players who have been banished to the youth ranks by new coach Enzo Maresca as they are all expected to leave the club when deals can be found.

The other two players have also been linked with Milan at varying times; Trevoh Chalobah and Romelu Lukaku.

Broja has found himself in the frame for a move to Milan on multiple occasions in the past 18 months and with the Rossoneri still planning to add another striker to the team, these developments at Chelsea could help a cheaper deal be done for the Albanian.

Lukaku is waiting for Napoli to bring him in as he would like to be reunited with Antonio Conte, but they ideally need to sell Victor Osimhen first to make space in the squad and on the wage bill.

Broja has not been ranked as one of Milan’s main targets this summer but he would certainly fit the bill for an opportunistic signing later in the window if nobody else is signed.

  1. J.David or just go for Konate from Salzburg. Broja goes in the same category as Abraham.

    Since Tottenham signed Solanke and City want Eze to replace J.Alvarez, I just want to ask everyone which teams would go for J.David?

    I don’t see any top team in LaLiga or Bundesliga needing him, maybe except for Leipzig. He is leaving France, so Italy or England should be logically next.

    Chelsea have their attack set with Omoridion and Neto purchases;
    City and Tottenham as I said already have their other targets;
    Liverpool is stacked;
    so is Arsenal with Kai-Jesus;
    West Ham signed Fulkrug and should be out of money after Wan-Bissaka;
    Villa has Waltkins;
    Newcastle has Isaak;
    Man Untd have Zirkzee and Hojlund…

    1. cant sign noneu players. David is Canada and Konate is Ivory C… Dont think albania is in eu as well

      Also, nobody wants David because he is cr@p

      1. Not that I’m saying we should get either David or Konate but we have only bought one non eu player this year so we can still buy one more. There was a change of rules recently where teams are only allowed to buy two non eu players from abroad pr year regardless if some is sold.
        Broja also has an english passport and players doesnt count as non eu players to my knowledge because i believe they was exempted from that ruleset as we saw last year that the RLC deal didnt count towards our non eu quota.

          1. if J.David doesn’t transfer to any good club, and we missed out on him due to Emerson… lmao… that would be hurtful but funny as hell and I don’t get the logic of hating a mf who only played in 1 team and they were never that good. Bring him here under Morata and Fonseca, he can easily score 15-20 goal per season, he’s also versatile and good at N10, but yeah sub RB > ST

      2. Armando Broja
        Born: September 10, 2001 (age 22 years), Slough, United Kingdom
        Current teams: Albania national football team (#11 / Forward), Chelsea F.C. (#19 / Forward)
        Nationality: Albanian, English

        1. Don’t English players “count as EU players” for the purposes of UEFA lists? If so, then this is a non-issue.

    2. The David one is interesting, I think he expected to go to Tottenham but that’s likely not on the table any more. Doesn’t look like Arsenal or Man City will want him, Newcastle, Villa and Liverpool have no use and Man Utd bought Zirkzee….. so running out of obvious decent clubs where he’d be a starter.

    3. Arsenal still need a striker, but they want a player with better quality than J.David, they are waiting for a discount for Osimhen.

    4. Clearly you keep not understanding how the finances of PL clubs are wildly different from others. Why would we spend 20-25M on a starting striker that will demand ~5M per season when we just signed a starting striker? Neither will want to sit on the bench, particularly David. That’s in addition to the fact that I’m not so sure David will succeed in the role we need him to play, which involves a lot of hold-up play.

  2. Please, please, please NO! If you’ve watched him you’d know Jovic and Tammy are better. This guy can not get the ball out of his feet to score. Chelsea is going to have a firesale so some othe players may be better to look at. Chalobah for one.

  3. Chalobah is an excellent player, no idea why Chelsea are being so difficult with him. Though their strategy has always been ‘buy flavour of the month and sell their own academy’

  4. Exactly. I admit that I don’t ever watch Ligue 1, but I have seen him play in Europe and several times for Canada, and I don’t see why so many call for him. Sure he scores in France, but I’ve never seen him as a must-have, a cheap backup at best.

  5. just get Chiesa, lower price & if he accept 5 or 6m/y salary i think is reasonable cz he’s local hero, he can play as RW/LW/AM/SS also can decide the game anytime w/ his skill + speed, injury prone? just ask Puli!

    1. I agree if Chiesa really is available for around 15 mil as media reports has suggested and we let him slip away I would have a very difficult time sugar coating this mercato.

      1. Especially as Fonseca is considering Okafor as striker, and Pulisic as no.10

        That actually leaves a space on the wings as an alternative to Chuck/ Leao , the advantage of Chiesa is he’s pretty comfortable both sides.

        Yes he’s asking for big wages but we should offer him a low Base but a bunch of incentives (eg if he scores 10+ goals or plays 35+ games etc)

        1. I agree there should be ample room for minutes played if he were to join us and if a deal could be negotiated in regard of his salary then I would be mighty sad if we doesn’t explore that idea. Seems unlikely to happen though. For now I really like the Pavlovic deal but for the rest either in or outgoing transfers doesn’t really stand out for me but not necessarily bad deals either but time will tell.

      2. Chiesa asking 7m euro nett salary . Not worth , he is not deserve that salary after ACL in both leg . Most likely he will go to Roma and get his high salary

        1. I disagree and Milan has previously bought players that was deemed broken who turned out amazingly for us. If I remember correctly then chiesa is 26 years old so he should have a long career ahead of him. Id sacrifice several players in the squad that I actually like to add him to our squad..
