The symbol of AC Milan’s return to form in recent weeks is young German defender Malkick Thiaw, a report claims.
As has been suggested by Milan News, the 21-year-old defender’s sudden rise to prominence within the team is the main feature in Milan’s upturn in form after such a terrible start to 2023.
Stefano Pioli’s decision to switch to a back three along with the poor form of Simon Kjaer and Matteo Gabbia meant that he was left with almost no choice but to bring Malick Thiaw into the defensive three, a role he is more familiar with than being in a two.
He has taken to it superbly and has started the four recent victories against Torino, Tottenham, Monza and Atalanta.
It now seems that a three of Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu is the settled choice of Pioli as long as they are all fit and the fixture list is not too demanding.
Sell/swap Poegba for Singo and then we are set with the back 3 (Thiaw/Tomori/Kalulu) and at both wing back spots (Theo/Singo). Add Aouar on a free and finally a high level consistent striker and we are not too bad
