Tuttosport: Three options on the table as Milan face €20m decision over Barcelona man

By Oliver Fisher -

Sergino Dest has been showing his qualities in the last three games at the World Cup in Qatar with his national team, the United States of America, who have progressed to the last 16.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how the Rossoneri full-back was certainly one of their best players in the three games played against Wales, England and Iran, which saw them concede just one goal.

That could be another turning point in Dest’s future given that his last few performances with Milan prior to the World Cup break were also encouraging, especially the one against Fiorentina in which came on as a substitute and changed the game.

The 22-year-old provided the assist for Christian Pulisic’s winner against Iran, the one that booked their place in the round of 16, and on Saturday it is expected that Dest will play against the Netherlands in what will be a conflicting game for him given his mother is Dutch and Dest himself grew up in the country.

After a complicated start to the season which was influences by having an uncertain future until deadline day and then having to get back to match fitness, Dest must keep up this level and give Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara a tough choice.

They negotiated a deal with Barcelona which includes a €20m option to buy, so they must either pay that amount, let him return to Catalonia or ask for a discount. Currently all three options are on the table but at the same time it is too early to talk concretely with over half the season still to play.
