CorSport: Three points, two returns and a clean sheet – Milan’s perfect evening vs. Atalanta

By Oliver Fisher -

Sunday night provided the biggest sign yet that AC Milan have put their crisis behind them and are back on an upward trajectory, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Milan have now amassed four wins in a row – something which had not happened this season prior to last night – and a fourth consecutive clean sheet.

Stefano Pioli was faced with the most difficult moment since he took charge after the seven-game winless run that made January miserable, yet he responded by changing formation and he ‘rebuilt’ his side starting from the defence, which has become unbeatable.

Yesterday’s victory for the Rossoneri against Atalanta at San Siro allowed Milan team to draw level on points with Inter but more importantly send a message in the top four race, as La Dea players were outclassed by their hosts in terms of pace, pressing and strength.

It is worth mentioning that there was another great performance in defence by Malick Thiaw and another high-level performance by Theo Hernandez, who is back to near his best in the wing-back role on the left.

Pioli yesterday celebrated 800 games as a head coach in his managerial career, and there were 70,000 fans present at San Siro plus the returns of Mike Maignan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to feel even happier about.
