TMW: Milan back in for Polish defender – Arsenal would sell for €20-22m

AC Milan have reignited their interest in signing Jakub Kiwior ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report, and Arsenal seem more open this time.

As TMW report, signing a new central defender is undoubtedly one of the targets for Milan in the summer mercato. The Rossoneri wanted to bolster this area of the pitch back in January, only to then give up after bringing Matteo Gabbia back from loan.

Now, with Simon Kjaer’s farewell having been confirmed, an investment is mandatory. Among the various possible names is Jakub Kiwior, a Polish centre-back who moved in January 2023 from Spezia to Arsenal for €25m.

Milan had already tried for a loan deal last summer but they met resistance from the Gunners who wanted to keep him. A year later, they seem to be open to the sale and at the same time the player would like to return to a starting role.

In this sense, the London club could settle for a figure between €20-22m. He ticks a lot of boxes for Milan: he is young, with experience in Serie A and now the Premier League, while he receives a salary of €2.2m net per year which is well within the parameters.

Towards the end of the most recent January window, Kiwior was asked about the reports linking him with a move to Milan and it would be fair to say that he seemed flattered by the idea.

  1. I noted a few days ago that Milan might try to get him. He did well as LB at Arsenal, so he might replace Theo too when/if need be. However, his price tag is not as low as this article suggests.

    1. The price tags rarely are as low as any of the articles suggest.

As for the player, ASSUMING the cost is 20m then he would be a solid option.

      1. I like to see and discuss football, various teams. I find transfer rumours and guessing who will get who quite interesting.

        1. Do you think, that Milan can compete with Inter, when no player is sold, and new CF, DM, CB, RB + Fonseca arrive?

          1. It depends on who those new arrivals will be. It also depends on what the coach transmits to the players. No team in the Serie A is as technically strong as to be virtually unreacheable by rivals. I mean, Inter won the Scudetto, but in Europe we ended up behind Real Sociedad, and then got knocked out by in-crisis Atletico. Inter’s main weakness is against teams that play fast, intensive football. Maybe because most of our players are either slow or 30+.

      1. Why so much hatred towards Inter Fan? Yes, he/she supports our rivals but generally is more positive towards our club than most “fans” on this site. As long as he/she stays cordial, there shouldn’t be any issues with good dialogue.

        1. “Why so much hatred towards Inter Fan?”
          The question answers itself.
I ain’t going to sugar coat stuff because hm”he’s nice”. Fck Inter and that includes their fans
