TMW: Milan management ‘really like’ Torino star Ricci but price tag could be an issue

The summer transfer window only closed one month ago but AC Milan are already plotting potential moved for the future, with Samuele Ricci of Torino reportedly a target.

In his Sunday editorial for Tuttomercatoweb.com, Niccolò Ceccarini spoke about a player who could be a potential reinforcement in midfield for Milan even as early as January in Ricci, who has been mentioned as a target by various sources.

He began by stating there is a ‘lot of attention’ on him after Luciano Spalletti called him up to the national team and he responded with two excellent performances against France and Israel in the UEFA Nations League.

Ceccarini adds that the midfielder ‘is an absolute guarantee and is destined to become a pillar for the Azzurri’ in the years to come. In Italy, Milan ‘are the club that could need him most now, also in light of Bennacer’s serious injury’.

The Rossoneri management ‘really like the Granata midfielder’ but just as was the case with Alessandro Buongiorno, Torino president Urbano Cairo’s asking price ‘would be very high’.

The discussion, therefore, is ‘more projected towards next season’ meaning that a move in the 2025 summer window is more likely than mid-season in the winter mercato.

  1. We better hope the links to Man City as Rodri alternative aren’t true, cos then we’re definitely priced out of any deal even with his expiring contract (2026 unless I’m mistaken)

  2. Think only Milan management is afraid to pay a bit more for quality..not saying Ricci is quality. I don’t see him as a game changing addition.
Not saying he’s a bad player either..I know people love to misinterpreted or just plain make up interpreter something.
Said this before, I think Ilić is a better player than Ricci when talking about Torino midfielders

      1. You’re the dude who’s always advocating for David.
Now you’re here saying how Ricci can play the roles of two very different midfielders…
Omfg. Do you know how improbable that is?
Have you even seen Ricci play? I mean really seen him, every game torino played seen him.
        I’d guess no.

          1. Does it look like Milan needs a regista type?

And? There are better players out there who can play both roles better than that flop.

    1. Ilic is the better player of the 2 but Milan is in need of a player with Ricci’s characteristics more than Ilic. Ricci stays back, ilic likes to go forward.

      1. You do know Juric used Ricci on AM last season, right? And when torino is lined with 3 mids linetty is the dm.

But yeah, ilic is better at offense and Ricci is better at defense.

          1. So did Benacer and Kessie. Also Krunic. Memeber Krunic? The balancer they called him in the media.
Ricci is krunic 2.0. But Italian.

  3. Before we invest huge amounts of money on Ricci, it’s better we offer it to Atalanta for Ederson who is better than Ricci. I’m not saying that Ricci is bad but he is overrated and not a leader which is required of somebody who plays his position. Though he is Italian but If Milan happen to sign him, he would sit on the bench and watch fofana play every game but that won’t be the case with Ederson. We need Italian players but not anyone. Inter always sign the best Italian players but not mediocres.
