Tomori discusses Milan being ‘home’, his partnership with Kalulu and doing ‘something exceptional’

By Oliver Fisher -

Fikayo Tomori has once again expressed how he feels ‘at home’ with AC Milan and insisted the team need to raise their level if they are to ‘do something extraordinary’ this season.

Tomori didn’t have the best of starts to 2022 as he was forced to miss some time due to a meniscal problem in his knee, but with him back in the starting line-up Milan went the entire month of March without conceding a goal and looked much more solid.

The Englishman formed an excellent partnership alongside Pierre Kalulu at the back, and although he was snubbed by Gareth Southgate in the recent round of international call-ups there is no suggestion of any frustration.

Tomori gave an interview to Milan TV to speak about just how settled he feels at the club and gave his thoughts ahead of Monday’s crucial game against Bologna.

“As a team we know that this season is very important, we are in a very good position but we have to raise the level to do something exceptional. We are calm but also excited,” he said.

After the final whistle in the 1-0 win for Milan against Cagliari, a brawl erupted on the pitch. Mike Maignan experienced racial abuse from the home fans and, along with Fikayo Tomori, took a stand.

“After the match we were happy with the result, then we heard something. The whole team and staff were with us, even Milan on social networks. This is being a family. We talked to Maignan, when there is a family like this it’s easier to raise your head,” Tomori explaining.

On his arrival at Milan: “I was excited to play here. The whole team and staff made me feel at home, it feels like I’ve been here for a long time. I’m happy here.”

On scoring a goal: “Pierre got one so I have to get one too. But even if I don’t score, the important thing is to win all the games. But I hope to be able to get one.”

On his partnership with Kalulu: “A great player, he always wants to learn. Pierre and I play confidently and calmly, we are in a good moment together and we have to continue.”

On the Bologna game: “Last year I was a bit nervous, it was my first match at Milan so it’s special. To think it was only a year and two months ago is crazy. I hope we can win, we try to do our best every game.”

On the San Siro crowd: “When it is full with our fans we are excited, we want to give our best. At this time of the season we want to give our best. Winning and thinking about the next match.”
