Tomori sheds light on conversation with Maldini before joining Milan and reveals Scudetto target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has set some lofty targets ahead of next season, revealing his belief that the team can challenge for and even win the Scudetto.

The Englishman became Milan’s second summer signing after Mike Maignan as a statement on the club’s official website announced that the Rossoneri have exercised the option to make the initial loan move a permanent deal.

Tomori spoke to Milan’s official Twitch channel to discuss his move while currently away on his summer holiday, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews beginning with his arrival at the club.

“Since I talked to Maldini and Massara that expectations would be high, so I should have done my best. Everyone helped me, since I arrived here I understood that I would only have the opportunity to be the owner if I had given my all,” he said.

Tomori was also asked about his own personal aspirations and those of the team heading into next season, given that the 2020-21 campaign was one that saw the team finally secure a return to the Champions League.

“We arrived in the Champions League and we are happy, we want to give continuity to this thing. But we are at Milan, we have to fight for the trophies,” Tomori added.

“We finished the season in second place, now we want to see if we can close the gap and try to win the league. We will try to have a good Champions League. We came close to winning the Scudetto, now we will try to do it. We also want to make a good run in the Italian Cup.”
