Torino boss Nicola picks out the ‘mistake’ he made in 7-0 loss: “Milan punished us heavily”

Torino boss Davide Nicola has named the key mistake he made that allowed AC Milan to put seven goals past his team during last night’s game.

Milan ran away 7-0 winners after a masterful attacking display, led by on-fire hat-trick hero Ante Rebic. 16th placed Torino were dealt with a huge blow after they fell to a second defeat in five matches.

Davide Nicola was quick to concede defeat and took all the blame for his side’s thumping at the hands of a motivated Rossoneri side.

Speaking to Sky Sports (via MilanNews) after the match, Nicola said: “The first reaction is a lucid analysis, independent of the heavy defeat. Probably the mistake was mine in overloading her with the guys too much during the week.”

Milan led 2-0 going into the second half and ended up scoring five goals before the match ended, largely fired by Rebic’s 12-minute hat-trick.

“Even at 2-0 at the return in the second half I was convinced that the game could be reopened. Then we objectively got the performance wrong. We disunited and Milan punished us heavily. The responsibility, however, is not the boys but mine because I loaded it too much,” he said.

The Rossoneri are neck and neck with Atalanta on 75 points, who sit one position ahead in second place due to superior goal difference. Napoli trail Milan by two points.
