CM: Torino star responds to Milan and Inter links – the strategy for the summer

A Milan derby could take place in the summer transfer window as both clubs are aiming to sign Samuele Ricci from Torino, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Ricci renewed his contract recently until 2028 but with a gentleman’s agreement included. Torino president Urbano Cairo is inclined to take into consideration any proposals from the big clubs that may arrive during the summer.

The performances of the Italy international have attracted plenty of interest from Inter and Milan, while abroad Manchester City are keen but they spent €60m at the end of January to sign Nico Gonzalez from Porto.

Ricci spoke to DAZN, and there were some interesting comments: “Torino is a second home for me, I was lucky enough to immediately connect with the fans, they made me understand what this shirt is.

“Every player who wears it perceives something different, but it is clear that the transfer rumours are very nice. However, you must not get too involved, they could even hurt you, it depends on how you take them and how you are made.

“I try to stay with my head here. I am very focused on what I am doing now. Milan and Inter links? They are nice like anyone else, but the important thing is to stay focused on what you are doing, because if you get too involved you risk losing focus.

“The build-up phase is what suits me best, but I also really like the non-possession phase. I prefer to play as a regista than as a mezzala, I have to improve in my aggression: I feel like I have already made some progress. And I can also do more in the goal area. My role model is Rodri, a complete player.”

Cairo is perfectly aware, net of the promises and the relationship of mutual respect with his player, that keeping Ricci for any longer will be almost impossible. And yet, the more time passes, the more the valuation of the midfielder’s price tag is destined to rise.

Considering the distant expiration of the contract, the size of the clubs interested and the potential of the midfielder, the selling price today stands between €35-40m. Inter might sell Hakan Calhanoglu and Davide Frattesi, while Milan are pondering an investment in a home-grown player.

The Rossoneri have been in contact with Ricci’s entourage for some time in order to obtain a pre-emption right, but the winner of the race will be the team that shows up with the right offer, for the player and the club.

  1. Tonali and Ricci in the summer would be an instant title declaration…

I would say since Newcastle CBs are f-ed, Tomori and Thiaw for our boy would make both sides happy. Gabbia and Pavlovic are more than enough, both class!

    Gimenez
    Leao-Tiji-Pulisic
    Tonali-Ricci
    Theo-Pavlovic-Gabbia-Walker
    Maignan

    1. Lucca/Camarda
      Alexis/Sottil-Fabbian-Chukwueze
      Musah/Zeroli-Bondo
      deCuyper/Bartesaghi-Coppola-Goglichidze-Jimenez
      Sportiello/Torriani

    2. Pavlovic and Gabbia are not enough even for starters.
They could be the rotation options, but for starting CBs, they are not good enough.

      Tomori and Thiaw can go.
They can do better away from Milan. They have the skillset to play in the Premier League.

    3. Agreed 100%!! Ive been saying the same exact thing. Tonali and Ricci should be bought and be our starting midfield. 👍

  2. Some folks thinking a starting 11 with minimal african players, it’s a wet dream. Think about why Cardi bought this club.. 😉

  3. No no, this would require an actual combo of a desire to win, and a general intelligence in making smart transfers. We have neither of those… we prefer spending 15mil on 3 to 4 midtable level players and then marketing them as world beaters

  4. A few weeks ago we were told that ricci was already in milan’s hands ….. and that our clever management only needed to press the button and ole …. ricci would be ours.
Seems like the tune is changing now ….. weasel furlani and cardinale have no real passion for milan and their one and only interest is $$$$$$$

      1. Nico Paz to Inter is practically done. The only thing is Real Madrid is trying to insert a buy back clause as they always do, but Inter will pay around 30M for him + bonuses.

Unfortunately Milan is always behind in transfers, Inter signs half of their players for next season before April. Milan won’t even have a SD until May or June probably.

  5. Inter always like going for the very few Italian players milan want specially if they’re good and I feel it’s just so we wouldn’t have them.

    1. Inter has over 50% Italian players. Your idea is such a loser idea that I would be ashamed to even think like that. What??????
