A former trainer of new AC Milan goalkeeper Devis Vasquez has said that he can become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Milan signed the Colombian goalkeeper at the start of the transfer window to help cover the injury to Mike Maignan. He is not going to feature against AS Roma but could play in the Coppa Italia next week.
The 1998-born goalkeeper from Club Guarani was a signing relatively from left field, but one of his former trainers thinks that he can make his way to the top of the sport.
Augusto Ayala spoke to Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan) about the goalkeeper and he was asked if he can become one of the best in the world, to which he said: “Absolutely, yes. He can go very far. It depends on his ambition and what he will do.”
If he were to impress enough in training and when given minutes, it is far from implausible to suggest that Vasquez can move above Tatarusanu in the pecking order.
It’s encouraging that Milan now at least have a backup who plays more like Mike than a scared youth prospect. Hopefully he finds his feet quickly and lives up to what his coaches have been saying about him.
