AC Milan have come out of the summer transfer window with their pockets a little heavier following some smart business.
In the end a number of new faces arrives, such as the likes of Brahim Diaz, Sandro Tonali, Ciprian Tatarusanu, Jens Petter Hauge and Diogo Dalot, plus deals for Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Quite a few players left too, including Giacomo Bonaventura and Lucas Biglia whose contracts expired, plus Suso, Lucas Paqueta, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre Silva, Pepe Reina, Tommaso Pobega and Diego Laxalt.
According to Transfermarkt (via MilanNews), Milan are the second best in Italy after Napoli in terms of performance in the window. The Rossoneri have invested €22.98m euros and sold players for €58m, therefore a profit of €35m. Only Napoli did better with a positive €41m.
By our reckoning, this is how the business went…
Incomings: Tonali €10m loan, Saelemaekers €3.5m, Kjaer €3.5m, Hauge €5m, Brahim Diaz (dry loan), Dalot (dry loan), Rebic (unknown), Tatarusanu €500k, Kalulu €500k. Total spend: around €23m.
Outgoings: Suso €24m, Andre Silva €9m, Rodriguez €3m, Laxalt (loan fee €2m?), Paqueta €20m, Total: €58m.
Net spend: €-35m.
A job well, but not done.
A CF to substitute Ibra was much needed as well as a CB.
Very true
