Tuttosport: ’14 days to keep hold of Milan’ – pressure already on Fonseca

By Ben Dixon -

Paulo Fonseca arrived in the summer to criticism and after three Serie A fixtures, the noise is only louder. Today, a report has suggested that he has two weeks to keep hold of his position at AC Milan. In other words, it’s not looking good.

Starting as Milan have is awful, especially when you consider that they’ve not faced a particularly difficult opponent. Had the Rossoneri won the opening two fixtures, arguments could be made about dropping points to Lazio at the Olimpico. However, they did not and deservedly did not.

So far, there has not been a game where the Diavolo should have won. They have been second best consistently, prone to mistakes, and as a whole, disjointed. Partner this with rumblings of a disconnect within the squad, and you are building a hellish situation.

The man tasked to sort that out is the man brought in to solve the issues in the first place – Fonseca. So far, he has not solved the issues, and many believe he has worsened them, with an earlier report suggesting the Portuguese head coach had extended the Milanese horror film.

As Tuttosport (via Milan News) now suggests, he now faces a 14-day trial. Whilst his stars will not be present for the majority of this time due to the international break, he has a chance to reflect and work with what he has.

Venezia, Liverpool and the Derby della Madonnina await. After that, it remains to be seen if the sack or continuity awaits him. The stakes are high, and in this case, pressure must make diamonds.

  1. We recently terminated the contract of an engineer at my company. After the technical interview, she was recommended as a Senior Engineer and was hired in my team. She had very good communication skills and seemed a good choice at first. However, things changed drastically and rapidly when she started to work on practical tasks, and we found that she was barely at junior level.
This must be how Ibra and the management feel now. They hired a charismatic coach, who knew how to present his ideas to them, but unfortunatlely he doesn’t seem to be able to make his players understand them. He says big words about modern, atracking football, fixing defensive issues, but when it’s time to act on those statements he doesn’t succeed.
Let’s see if he manages to change this impression before it’s too late. However, if he leaves, he has to take Zlatan with him.

    1. That is the modern issue of corporations, American or not. I also have countless examples of promotions for people from minorities because of “inclusion and diversity” or just people with good communication skills. It’s all about storytelling, there is no such thing as meritocracy. It’s probably how Moncada got his promotion. And this is why Milan is more focused on PR than football.

      1. PR is not really something these RedBirds are skilled at seeing Curva protests due to lack of proper communication and now this situation. So maybe it’s time they focus on their current byproduct which is football.

  2. This is how this will go
    October 1st

Moncada: lets look for a new coach in France!
Furlanai: lets look for a new coach in America!
Zlatan: I am the captain now

    Moncada: or Belgium!
Furlani: Zlatan, what is a captain?
Zlatan: 4-3-3 I am the captain now

Gerry: numbers are sexy. I want numbers.

    1. 100%
They had a lot of choices but they decided on Fonseca then Zlatan came out in one of the press conferences to say we know what we are doing 🤡🤡🤡

  3. If he leaves/gets sacked we’re probably gonna replace him with a bum who’s only ever won 1-2 trophies in more than a decade. If it was up to me I would chose Sergio conciecao who’s shown he’s a winner winning 12 trophies in the last 14 years and he’s consistent which is something we haven’t had in a long time

    1. He should’ve been hired in the first place, they had De Zerbi, Motta and Conciecao available but decided for the cheapeast option, in a few weeks they’re gonna have to fire Fonseca and they’ll be paying for two sacked coaches and expending more money instead of hiring a proper coach in the first place and avoid all these problems

  4. So Milan ended up with Fonseca while the apparently Pochettino is about to sign for team USA 😤

If I say it once, I said it million times: Fu€k Cardinale and his three idiots.
