Tuttosport: Chelsea set to stand firm as Milan aim to file down €28m option for centre-back

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan want to try and negotiate a lower option to buy figure with Chelsea for Fikayo Tomori, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) confirms that Milan want to sign Fikayo Tomori on a permanent basis from the Premier League side and to do this, they will have to activate the €28m clause set last January in the deal with Chelsea.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will try to file the figure down a little, even if at the moment the Blues are reluctant to change the figure agreed in the negotiations, as seen in the Tiemoue Bakayoko saga last summer.

Given how impressive the English defender has been since his arrival in Italy, it could well be that Champions League qualification and the extra revenue that it brings may be enough for Milan to trigger the clause anyway in order to secure a top player for the future.
