Tuttosport: Inter fan, opponent and target – Berardi’s paradox ahead of Sassuolo-Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

There will be an interesting sub-plot to Sunday’s game between AC Milan and Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium involving Domenico Berardi.

Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) are reporting that Berardi is a transfer target for Milan ahead of the summer window as they look to reinforce the right wing but he will be an opponent this weekend when the Rossoneri look to win the 19th Scudetto in their history.

Berardi has a history of hurting Milan as in 2014 he scored all four goals in their 4-3 victory that caused Max Allegri to be sacked and then in 2015 he scored in the 3-2 victory for the Neroverdi.

In 15 matches against the Rossoneri, Berardi has scored 10 goals meaning Milan are the team he has scored the most goals against in Serie A. He was an Inter fan growing up, something he has never hidden, and he wants to help derail Milan’s Scudetto bid on Sunday.

However, the peculiarity is that in doing so he could hurt his potential future club as Berardi could end up right at Milan in the upcoming summer transfer market session. At the age of 28, he wants to join a top side and compete for trophies, yet he could rip one from the Diavolo’s hands.

  1. Milan today is not Milan from the 3:1 if I recall correctly it was Mike first game after recovering from his injury, with many players not ready or not available… its not easy game as there is no easy games… Milan today is a mature one and there is a history to be made, I don’t see the guys missing a life time apportonity to be remembered for ever.

    1. Magnian
      Florenzi Kjaer Romagnoli Hernandez
      Bennacer Bakayoko
      Leao Diaz Saelemaekers
      Ibrahimovic

Honestly, at that point, with Romagnoli, Yoko, Diaz, Saladmaker… Pescara would have ripped us apart. Why were we surprised they humiliated us back then?

  2. Jeez I never wanted this guy in the first place and now it turns out he’s an inter fan… screw this guy and let’s get any one of the better alternatives out there.

  3. There is nothing new about him supporting inter so for me it doesnt change squat and i know several milan fans on this blog was bashing tonali while they screamed for barella as a better midfield option for us even when at inter, coincendentally an inter fan even before he joined them.
What matter is if we did get berradi who id personally wouldnt mind us investing 20-30 mil on then we would have a starter with an instant impact as he has proven over several years to bag double digits in both goals and assists. Other solutions mentioned here are often players from other leagues that certainly has great skills and better potential but would also have to adjust to both a new league and culture. If we want an instant impact and also adding some experience from a player in his prime then i would still pick berradi as our future right wing.
If the unthinkable were to happen on sunday on and we did lose the scudetto according to him scoring well then it would be a completely different matter for me as i doubt the player would find an easy time with the fans and therefore wouldnt really seem like a viable option then.

    1. If he score goal or asist that causing AC Milan losing Scudetto,i don’t think paolo Maldini and AC Milan fans want him anymore even he is free transfer. It would be hard decision for him as inter merda fans, his chance join inter merda are zero since that club play 352 that don’t need right winger like berardi

  4. Berardi for 30M??? No TY. 15m ok. Not 30m – more dynamic players out there for that price. Sign Antony instead for 30M. Berardi reminds me of a small team star that’s it. He’s a solid player but we can do better for the price IMO

    1. As abanjo2003 already said you wont be able to buy him for that price so yeah berradi certainly offers a cheaper alternative and he has already proven himself in serie a whereas anthony has proven himself in the dutch league for a dominant team and with worse stats than the italian and with all due respect that doesnt offer the same guarantees in my view. I will give you though that Anthony would be a better long term investment but id still pick berradi ragardless of you deeming him a small team star.
