Tuttosport: Milan and Pioli ready to welcome back their midfield metronome on Saturday

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will welcome back a key pillar of his side tomorrow when Ismael Bennacer returns to the fold.

As Tuttosport writes this morning (via MilanNews), the emergency is not over yet as the absences in other departments show, but slowly Milan are getting back towards being able to field their first choice XI.

After missing the Coppa Italia derby, Sandro Tonali and Mario Mandzukic are available for the away match in Bologna, but Pioli and the rest of the squad are thrilled about the return of Bennacer who has been out since mid-December.

The paper points out how recovering the Algerian midfielder is key for the Rossoneri, as they missed him a lot in the double pivot. He is the true metronome of the Milan team, a pillar with unique characteristics, and while Tonali tried his best to fill in it seemed that he is not yet ready yet for such a huge role.

Kessie and Tonali will start on Saturday though as the medical staff don’t want to rush Bennacer back, but soon the former Empoli man will take back his place in the heart of the Rossoneri midfielder.
