AC Milan have been forced to reflect upon hearing of interest from two of Europe’s elite clubs in midfielder Ismael Bennacer, it is claimed.
Friday’s edition of the newspaper Tuttosport (via MilanNews) notes how the Algeria international is highly valued by the club, who paid €16million to sign him from Empoli a year ago.
However, it is now not a mystery that he has ended up in the sights of two top European clubs; namely PSG and Manchester City.
Former Milan and current PSG sporting director Leonardo has already probed the ground with Bennacer’s agent and has understood that confusion reigns at Milan and therefore the door is absolutely not closed.
However, for the moment the Ligue 1 giants are not willing to pay the €50million release clause in the 22-year-old’s contract. As for Man City, Pep Guardiola likes the player so much that he has already called him to explain the project and convince him to accept the offer.
The paper adds that there are ‘days of reflection’ ongoing at Milan: if on the one hand the sale of Bennacer would allow the club to make a very important capital gain, on the other hand selling one of the strong points of the team could be a huge blow to the project.
