Tuttosport: Milan have clear ideas regarding the role of third choice goalkeeper

By Oliver Fisher -

It may not be a situation that dominates the media headlines, but AC Milan must resolve the issue of who will be their third choice goalkeeper going into next season.

Antonio Mirante arrived at Milan during the last season when there was a goalkeeping emergency between October and November as Mike Maignan had a wrist problem that required surgery, meaning Ciprian Tatarusanu was the new No.1 as Alessandro Plizzari was out on loan.

According to a report from Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Mirante should renew his contract with Milan and be third choice goalkeeper again next season despite the fact he didn’t end up playing a single minute of the 2021-22 campaign.

Alessandro Plizzari on the other hand – having returned from the loan to Lecce – should leave the club again on yet another loan spell. The 22-year-old played only three times in Serie B last season and he is under contract until summer 2023, meaning a renewal would be needed before a new loan.
