Tuttosport: Milan hold talks with entourage of Celtic star over conference call despite denials

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan held fresh talks with the entourage of Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer on Monday morning despite denials that he is a target.

Milan are in the market for a new centre-back given that the current department is stretched, with Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio both out injured plus the inexperienced due of Matteo Gabbia and Leo Duarte failing to offer the right assurances.

Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Ajer of Celtic have been frequently linked, but Paolo Maldini denied that they are players that the management are working on during his interview with Sky on Monday night.

However, according to Tuttosport (via InsideFutbol), the Rossoneri are working to sign the defender and a fresh conversation took place between Ajer’s representatives and the Milan managemet on Monday.

It has been claimed that on Monday afternoon the Milan hierarchy spoke with the player’s representatives over a conference call to take stock of the current situation.

Milan could be probing the ground in order to launch a precise and decisive assault, or they could be lining the Norwegian up as an alternative target.
