Tuttosport: Milan identify dream centre-back target but baulk at €30m asking price

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan know that they must strengthen the squad by buying a central defender this summer and have identified their dream target, a report claims.

With Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer as the established pairing and the 20-year-old Matteo Gabbia as the back-up, there are no other players who can offer guarantees at present.

Leo Duarte has not convinced both from a physical and technical point of view since his arrival from Flamengo, while Mateo Musacchio – who is currently injured – will leave if the right offer comes in or next summer when his deal runs out.

According to Friday’s edition of the newspaper Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri’s dream would be to sign Wesley Fofana from Saint-Etienne.

However, for the moment his price is too high. The paper claims that the Ligue 1 side are asking for no less than €30million to let their 19-year-old jewel leave, a figure that Milan cannot shell out.

  1. Why not? Is 30 million too much for a player, who can be crucial to our success now and in to future! The same was said about Alessio who cost 25 million and is now our captain! And prices has gone up since then! I would opt to sign Kumbulla from Verona instead, because he is talented young central-back who knows serie a already and also cheaper like you want!
