Tuttosport: Milan interested in potential low-cost deal for star Atalanta forward

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of the teams interested in snatching playmaker Josip Ilicic from Atalanta this summer, but they are not the only club in the running.

It has been a difficult second half of the season for the Slovenia international as his playing time has dropped dramatically and his importance to head coach Gian Piero Gasperini seems to have dwindled after reports of a falling out between the pair.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) confirms that Ilicic could leave Atalanta during the summer transfer window. The 33-year-old has been heavily linked with Milan, the paper notes, but there are also other options.

The Rossoneri are interested in the player but they don’t want to spend too much money, considering the age of the player and the fact that his contract in Bergamo will expire in June 2022. It is a situation worth monitoring therefore as Milan look to build a deep squad ready for a return to the Champions League.

  1. I can’t even begin to explain what a bad deal this would be. Imagine this guy and Zlatan, two immovable objects up front. We will be paralyzed in defence. They can’t run!
