Tuttosport: Milan player ratings from Roma win – Kessie ‘fundamental’ but playmaker ‘struggled’

By Oliver Fisher -

Franck Kessie got the title of man of the match for Milan from Tuttosport’s player ratings after Sunday’s win against Roma.

The Rossoneri consolidated their position in second place in the table by moving onto 52 points with a 2-1 win at the Olimpico, stretching their lead above Roma to eight points in the process.

The paper (via PianetaMilan) has given Kessié a rating of 7.5 out of 10 as he ‘bites on every ball with the imperative to suffocate Villar’ and is ‘now also a weapon from eleven meters: fundamental’.

Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori got the same score for being ‘always present in marking’ and for being the one who ‘extinguishes the Frenchman’s [Veretout’s] shot by diving to perfection’.

Davide Calabria got a 7 as did Alexis Saelemaekers, as the pair were involved in each goal. The full-back won the penalty that Kessie converted, while the Belgian got an assist for Rebic’s winning goal.

It was a 6.5 for Theo Hernández and a 6 for Gigio Donnarumma, Simon Kjær, Sandro Tonali – ‘certainly above his average levels’ – Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Rade Krunić (who ‘almost scored a world-class goal from midfield’) and Rafael Leão.

A rating of 5.5 was given to Brahim Díaz who ‘struggled to get into the game’ and Zlatan Ibrahimović, who missed several chances.

  1. Kjaer & tomori is our best pair cb,tomori won the match with his decisive block on several occasions, if it were romagnoli we would have lost the match bcos he does not make blocks, easily the attacker scores.let’s keep it up.
