Tuttosport: Milan to open talks soon over signing of 19-year-old Chelsea talent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working on strengthening their midfield department ahead of next season and they are targeting Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, a report claims.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Chukwuemeka is a name that Milan have had on their list for a while given they tried to sign him from Aston Villa last summer before he chose Chelsea.

Talks between Milan and Chelsea are expected shortly to try to understand the feasibility of the operation. The English midfielder made just 15 appearances last season, of which only two came as a starter for a total of just 362 minutes on the pitch.

That is why he could leave the Blues this summer to go somewhere he would get more guaranteed playing time, and he could therefore join the Rossoneri via a loan formula.

Chukwuemeka is a non-EU and that means if Daichi Kamada were to arrive on a free transfer, his eventual arrival would exclude that of other players without a EU passport, including Ruben Loftus-Cheek for example.

However, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara’s exits mean that Loftus-Cheek is not particularly high on the list. Instead, talks are expected in the coming days with Chelsea, but for Chukwuemeka instead.
