Tuttosport: Milan will ‘make an attempt’ to sign another midfield starlet from Empoli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will make an attempt to raid Empoli for another one of their promising young midfielders this summer, a report claims.

Rossoneri owners Elliott Management have preferred a recruitment strategy which involves signing young players with high potential and recording capital gains on the balance sheet.

The Rossoneri spent a substantial sum in the summer mercato on Theo Hernandez, Rade Krunic, Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao, Leo Duarte and Ante Rebic – the oldest of whom was 25.

Bennacer arrived from Empoli and has been one of the most impressive performers under Stefano Pioli so far this term, and it seems that Milan are ready to return to negotiations with Empoli.

According to what is being reported by Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com), Milan will ‘make an attempt’ to sign 18-year-old midfielder Samuele Ricci from the Tuscan club this summer.

Ricci has represented Italy from U17 to U19 level and is regarded as one of the brightest midfield prospects in Italy, having only made his debut for Empoli last September in Serie B.

No more information is offered such as the potential value of the offer or what it would take to seal the deal.
