Mateo Musacchio is closing in on a return from injury and appears to be down to his last chances to save his AC Milan career.
As Tuttosport reports (via MilanLive), Musacchio has been out for several months now due to an ankle injury but he is getting close to being able to train with the group once again and therefore be eligible for selection.
If Musacchio returns and impresses both from a fitness point of view and in terms of his performances, it cannot be excluded that Milan could consider the idea of extending his current contract, which is set to expire in 2021 as things stand.
At the moment there are no negotiations for a renewal but everything is still open. If the Argentine were to return to the levels seen under Gattuso, then he could become a useful player with experience and therefore a very valid alternative to Kjaer and Romagnoli, together with Matteo Gabbia.
