Tuttosport: Pioli studying formation options as Milan trio will take part in AFCON

In January of next year, the African Cup Of Nations will begin and three AC Milan players will take part in the competition. They will miss at least three games and Stefano Pioli is thus considering some options.

The players in question are Fode Ballo-Toure, Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie. The midfield tandem will be a bit decimated and it’s clear that Sandro Tonali will be the point of reference. Tiemoue Bakayoko and Rade Krunic will be fighting for the spot next to him.

As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the trio will at least miss the games against Roma, Venezia and Spezia. Depending on how it goes in the competition, they could also miss the clash with Juventus, which isn’t ideal.

Pioli is studying a few options for the team. The priority is the 4-2-3-1 formation, of course, also because Milan have adequate players to cover for the absence of Bennacer and Kessie. But the 4-4-2 shouldn’t e completely ruled out, but it will depend on the game.
