Tuttosport: Two targets identified as Milan plan to add defensive element to midfield

In the summer, AC Milan are expected to make some reinforcements and one of the priorities appears to be a midfield signing. As has become clear, the Rossoneri could use a more defensive-minded player in the tandem.

Milan have conceded way too many goals this season and while the defence hasn’t been at its usual best, the department hasn’t been helped by the midfield either. The departure of Franck Kessie is still haunting the Rossoneri and therefore, in the summer, a defensive midfielder could arrive.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan have set their sights on three players for that role. In addition to Sofyan Amrabat who’s currently on loan at Man Utd, the Rossoneri are also keeping tabs on Renato Veiga (Basel) and Walace (Udinese).

The technical director Geoffrey Moncada and his scouting department have been to watch Veiga several times already, impressed by his abilities at just 20 years of age. Walace is older at 28, but he knows Serie A very well and has been a consistently good midfielder for Udinese.

It seems likely that a lot will depend on Milan’s striker pursuit, as a big chunk of the summer budget will be dedicated to that position.
