Twelve AC Milan players called-up for international duty

Twelve AC Milan players have been called up by their respective countries for international duty over the next fortnight.

The Rossoneri are on an early season break after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brescia at San Siro, with a round of international fixtures both in Europa and in South America, amongst others. 

Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alessio Romagnoli have both been called up by Italy for their 2020 European Championship qualifiers away at Armenia and Finland this Thursday and Sunday respectively. 

Matteo Gabbia has received the call from Italy U21s for their EURO 2021 qualifiers, while Rafael Leao has made Portugal’s U21 squad for their games against Gibraltar (home) and Belarus (away).

Hakan Calhanoglu is in the Turkey squad for their qualifiers against Andorra and Moldova at home and away respectively, while Suso is in the Spain squad for their games against Romania (A) and the Faroe Islands (H).

Rade Krunic will feature for Bosnia against Liechtenstein and Armenia (home and away respectively) and Krzysztof Piatek will face Slovenia away and Austria at home with Poland.

Ricardo Rodriguez (Switzerland) will face a trip to the Republic of Ireland before returning home to face Gibraltar.

Ismael Bennacer, fresh off the back of being named African Cup of Nations Player of the Tournament over the summer, will be present for Algeria’s games against Zambia (H) and Botswana (A) as qualification for the next AFCON begins.

Franck Kessie (Ivory Coast) will face Benin at home and Tunisia away, while Lucas Paqueta’s Brazil have two home fixtures coming up – namely against Colombia and Peru.
