Tuttosport: The two selection dilemmas Pioli must resolve ahead of Bologna’s visit

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has a couple of selection doubts that he will have to resolve ahead of the game against Bologna on Monday night.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Pioli will not make wholesale changes to the starting line-up used during recent games. Mike Maignan is clearly sure of a spot in goal, while in defence the Rossoneri head coach should once again rely on the Kalulu-Tomori centre-back pairing.

The only two battles at the moment involve the one between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud to be the centre-forward, with the Frenchman the favourites for a starting spot, plus the one between Brahim Diaz and Franck Kessie, with the Ivorian on pole to start as the attacking midfielder.

This weekend could provide some twists given that Juventus host Inter in the Derby d’Italia and Napoli face a difficult trip to Atalanta while Milan wait for those results to come in before they play Bologna.

  1. I am always antsy seeing this dumb duck in our attacking midfield position. I hated is to the extent that I want FK out of this squad, only this way pioli would not ever play him there.

    1. the coaches tendency is to “rest guys” for the “big” games, seems like everytime this happens the guys loose their “edge” and are mediocre when they need to be at their best…….today’s players are like race horses, they see that finish line and they seem to find whatever it takes, play the regular starters to about the 60 minute mark, then start subbing, that at least gives the subs some time to get into the rhythm of the match.
