Ukraine star admits to watching Milan games and idolising three club icons

Ukraine and Shakhtar Donetsk star Heorhiy Sudakov has admitted to idolising three AC Milan legends as well as watching the team’s games in Europe when he can.

Sudakov was part of a number of different academies in Ukraine during his time at school and in 2017 joined the Shakhtar Donetsk Academy, who at the time were the main powerhouse in the Ukrainian Premier League.

He graduated to the senior side in 2020 after playing in the Ukrainian Premier League Reserves and made his debut for Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2020–21 Champions League in a shock away win against Real Madrid.

The midfielder made his debut for Ukraine on 23 May 2021 in a friendly against Bahrain and has since gone on to make 11 caps, with the 21-year-old attracting some interest from around Europe.

Sudakov spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of Ukraine’s game against Italy on Monday, one which could well end up being a decider in terms of who qualifies for the 2024 European Championships.

“As a child I liked seeing Sheva, Ibra and Kakà. Talent, imagination and personality,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I watch AC Milan and Inter matches in Europe, Juve too. But also Roma, Napoli, the strongest ones always interest me, I like watching football on TV, the clubs that play well, interesting, attractive and that take possession.”
