Villarreal CEO Roig Negueroles has been very clear about the financial situation that his club is in right now which could have a bearing on AC Milan’s transfer window.
Speaking during an interview with AS (via Milan News), the CEO was unusually open and clear about the fact that Villarreal’s financial situation is not perfect.
When asked if the team is financially balanced, he said that they are at the highest salary level that they can afford right now.
“We are not in balance, we are still out of budget, we are at the highest salary level we can afford. So either we play in the Champions League, or it’s complicated,” the CEO said.
He then expanded on whether the club needs to make sales this summer and whilst they do not need to see all their best players leave, sales will certainly help the club.
“We also don’t want to do anything drastic, we won’t make many changes. But if we don’t lower the wage bill further, we are forced to make a profit from sales. This is not the ideal situation, because being forced by something is never good. To break even, we have to sell. But let it be clear that we are in no hurry, nor are we selling anyone off. We have a lot of talent in the squad and a lot of young people, so we are aware that there may be a way out, but not only that,” he explained.
That is of serious interest to Milan given they would love to sign Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze from the La Liga side this summer to be their new right-sided attacker.
“Samu is a great guy who has been with us for many years. It’s true that he would be thrilled to play for a big club in Europe or the Premier League, and we have always worked side by side to improve him, and if this option presented itself, we would sit down and negotiate,” he said.
“But we will have to see if some offer comes along that is advantageous for all three parties. In this case, no offer has arrived yet, and he has an extra year on his contract. What we are clear about is that if something very good does not come along, he will continue with us.”
But they’ll be sorted when they get 30m from Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson.
Now, Saudi clubs’ apparent obsession with paying huge money for all the unnecessary players Chelsea have on their books… there’s an interesting one…
Just occurred to me that ACM bought another promising Samu from Villarreal few years ago and well, we all know how this turned out…
Not comparing anything, just a ‘fun’ fact.
Too many names flowing around and none of them looks very convincing OR at least ready to make the difference
Too by soon to tell how this mercato will eventually end, yet doesn’t look much promising to allow the squad get massively improved -at least on paper-
Furlani and Moncada bring their faces to negotiations to realize that people do not pay them the same amount of respect compared to the face of Paolo Maldini.
Fresh graduates are getting ahead of themself.
Source reliable antovitiello : AC Milan can get samuel with 20m euro cash . Thats not too expensive i think , AC Milan can offer 15m euro cash + 5m euro bonus
This guy would be more then perfect for the right wing its just what were lacking in that position , a fast / explosive right sided player with the ability to put the ball in the net but also assist the likes of giroud and leao. 20M would be a steal for this guy
Milan CEO’s please do this one for us the fans it will be lovely and productive.
