AC Milan may be enjoying a positive start to the season and they sit top of Serie A as we go into the international break, but work is ongoing to ensure the squad continues to improve in the next two transfer windows.
As reported by Antonio Vitiello for Milan News, the busy summer of 2023 has not put Milan in a position where they need to lay low for the next two windows.
The management are aware that 2-3 areas of the squad need to be addressed in January and next summer window and work has already begun in this regard.
The main aim for next summer is to acquire a new striker, which suggests that they are happy with the number of forward players at the club for the 2023/24 season.
With Luka Jovic now providing depth behind Olivier Giroud and Noah Okafor able to play down the middle too, a new striker is unlikely to arrive in January barring injuries.
Bartesaghi is about to have a baptism of fire v Juventus, unless florenzi plays LB.
We will know by january if we need a back up LB or not.
At centre back we could look at moving Caldara on and loaning out the young Argentine chap. Perhaps we may need to add depth there as Thiaw, Tomori and Kalulu are our only solid options. Unless we decide to promote Simic who looked great in Pre-season
If we get Bennacer back that might be enough for midfield, though a true DM would be useful.
Again the likes of Eletu from Primavera could be worth promoting
Finally we come to striker. If we make it out of our CL group then perhaps January may provide opportunity to get someone in.
I am always in favour of giving our own youth a chance before looking elsewhere
Florenzi will play LB for sure. Pioli would never in a million years put Bartesaghi in the starting eleven against Juve. He could barely consider that against someone like Salernitana or Verona but Juve? No way in h*ll!
I’m sure your right about Juve game.
Bartesaghi is getting some minutes though and doing well, looks very composed. Hopefully by January he will have shown enough to keep his place as back up LB.
The young spanish lad we signed from Madrid looks goood too, perhaps he will get a chance at RB.
It would be very satisfying to see our youth players coming through. Our primavera right now has more talent than I can remember for many years
Alex Jimenez was brought on loan, do we have an option to buy for him ?
Yes I believe we do. That’s one of the reasons I expect him to get some minutes in 2nd half of the season. See if he is worth spending on
Bro you are in dreamland. Promote Eletu? While I would love to see that happen, do you understand the thinking of our coach by now? These guys don’t play unless monumental set of injuries occur. It’s why Thiaw and Kalulu got a shot, why Adli last year and this year got a shot. If those others players weren’t injured they’d be in the bench still and we would not know how good they were
“Simic who looked great in Pre-season”??? In which world? He was covered by Tomori, badly out of position and couldn’t hold the offside trap and you want to play him in a competitive game in Serie A?
I dont think that would happen too. Primavera only play if coach dont have any choice in senior team . bertesaghi not getting playing time even if theo absence , but coach choose change formation to 343
In fairness Bartesaghi is getting his chance.
Also I am not saying Simic or Eletu should be dropped in at the deep end, what I am saying is if we need a 5th choice Centre back give Simic that opportunity. Likewise Eletu, no reason he also can’t be gradually integrated with some minutes against smaller teams (he did well during our mid season friendlies).
When I read your comment I get the impression that you saw the wrong game. Do you even know who Simic is? he is the top talent from Primavera. Better inform yourself before you weiter this nonsense!
I know exactly who Simic is. We can watch the same preseason game and come to different conclusions. I saw that game against Real and time and time again Simic was late to the offside trap (let me know if you want timestamps). He kept playing opponents onside when Tomori and co stepped up. Tomori then had to track back between said space that Simic created. He lacks pace and so by default he over compensates by sitting deeper (I would know this because I’m old and lack pace so it’s exactly what I do lol). And that’s why he’s not able to step up for the trap. It’s best to give an actual analysis rather than have a positivity bias because he’s Primavera. Did he make a couple of decent interceptions? Sure. Did Tomori have to come over to cover his mistakes? Yes. That’s the other side that doesn’t get reported or people on this site fail time and again to admit. They see the shiny highlights and think he must be this really good player when in fact he wasnt that great. He’s also short and suffer the same issue with taller players that Musah has. Taller players can stand him up easily and he has no option but to foul. Not sure if you remember him against Real, when he went up against Joselu. Joselu owned him simply based on height, just stood the ball up and he had to foul him because of the pass off that was available 🤦♂️
Better inform yourself instead lol. Wrong person to comment about not watching games lol ..i watch an incredibly large number of games, sometimes even twice over. Go back and watch that game. It’s on dazn
Btw he got rated the worst defender that game by stats. But here on this site, he’s the next Canna it seems. I’ve even given my review back then on this site so maybe check that out. It’s the exact same thing I’ve said
Either biased or too much video games so they think the reality is just like video games they played, i wont comment about Simic but Bartesaghi, the minute he subbed in against Juve in Preseason he is chasing the man like crazy dog and still lose him show me that he is not ready for the real game, player like Bartesaghi looks promising but not mature enough they will be butchered in big game
@Manadonese I don’t agree with you much but that also exactly what I thought. Bartesaghi is too aggressive and too rash in his challenges. Although he had some good interceptions he always seem a needless foul away from yellow or red. It’s probably why I think Pioli prefers Florenzi there even though he’s an RB. Do I want to see the Primavera players play in the first team? Of course. But I also can get past the hype and actually look at how they’re performing. I do t give extra points for being young. It’s either you can play at the level or not
Jovic isn’t providing depth or anything else. Totally useless.
He hasn’t impressed so far, but he is just getting back to fitness, so let’s give him a chance. His career has totally derailed, so it’s last chance saloon. Who knows, there is a small chance he may regain some form
2-3???
Hilarious.
Keep ‘em coming.
To every window churn, churn, churn.
For defense, I don’t think it will be a bad idea to use Simic next year or maybe even in some games this year. He did look good when he played, and he is a youth product, so less problems for lists. Same thing for Bartesaghi who is also looking good.
I think our only focus should be a striker and maybe a DM.
I’m with you. Let’s focus our time/money on a couple of select signings.
Also promote some of our amazing Primavera. If we gonna have players who are 5th or 6th choice, they may as well be our youth players
