Vitiello: Milan ready to make ‘big investment in attack’ during the summer

The AC Milan management have decided not to sign a striker in the January transfer window, but a journalist has claimed that a big investment will happen this summer.

Milan are currently in a strange position given that they have Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic making important contributions with Noah Okafor back from injury too, but the Frenchman and the Serbian are only under contract until June.

At least one of them will leave at the end of the season but Milan have chosen to put off the signing of a new centre-forward until then, while relying on Okafor as more of an auxiliary striker or a deputy to Rafael Leao rather than the No.9 of the future.

According to what is being reported by Antonio Vitiello in his latest column for MilanNews, the directors are preparing to make a ‘big investment in attack’ during the summer mercato.

The aim of Geoffrey Moncada and his side is to sign a ‘high-level player’ who can lead the line for years to come in the future, and a signing will arrive regardless of whether Giroud extends his contract or not.

No name is mentioned, but the likes of Jonathan David, Joshua Zirkzee, Serhou Guirassy and Victor Gyokeres have all been recently linked.

  1. Giroud will most likely be leaving this summer, heading to MLS in USA.

Giroud does not want another situation like at Chelsea where he is a backup with limited minutes.

Milan revitalized his career and he’s hoping the MLS experience will be the same for him.

  2. If we only competed in Serie A every season, OG would be able to keep up. With the Champions League factored in it would not be possible for him. On top of that, he still wants to contribute for France. He wants to play so much while his body cannot keep up. A very valuable CF but his wants actually backfires at his personality. If we remind him of the saying “choose your battles” he would probably choose every single one available.

    1. I honestly love that mentality. When you fight EVERY battle you’ll win the small ones that are sometimes the differ maker.

I think he still is that difference maker for us do it will be sad to see him go. 😔

  3. so Jonathan David, Joshua Zirkzee, Serhou Guirassy and Victor Gyokeres is big names?
is 1 of them did score 20-30 goals 2-3 season in a row?

  4. Should just roll the dice on Pavlidis. If he flops at least we wont lose much. Being in the last year of contract i’m sure we could get him for 20-25M.
