Vitiello: Milan monitoring Real Madrid man ahead of possible free transfer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s interest in signing Marco Asensio remains and there could be the opportunity to sign him on a free next summer, a report claims.

Asensio was strongly linked with a move to Milan at the beginning of the summer transfer window before the management decided to focus on Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge, but with the Spaniard’s contract due to expire in June 2023 he could be a real market opportunity.

According to what Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews said on his YouTube channel, Milan are monitoring Asensio’s situation and they are aware that at present he intends to leave Real Madrid on a free next June, with not much possibility of a renewal especially in light of recent tension with coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Paolo Maldini is a big admirer of the 26-year-old, who can play on the right wing or as a playmaker, but there are two obstacles that arise immediately: Asensio will want a high salary from his next club and his entourage would want a hefty commission.
