GdS: Vranckx on a mission to impress Pioli and convince Milan he is worth €12m

By Oliver Fisher -

Going into the second part of the season the mission for Aster Vranckx is simple: to get more playing time and convince AC Milan that he deserves to stay.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recall that Vranvkx would cost €12m to buy permanently as per the pre-agreed amount in the option to buy deal with Wolfsburg, but so far he has had very few minutes and was excluded from the Champions League squad list.

Pioli has used him only four times this season for a total of 45 minutes but in the final game against Fiorentina prior to the winter break he showed himself to be the dynamic box-to-box presence that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were convinced by, providing the cross that led to the late winning goal.

So far the 20-year-old has played 12 minutes against Sampdoria, 6 against Juve, 12 against Monza and another 15 against Fiorentina which is even less playing time than the likes of Adli, Thiaw, Ballo-Touré and even Florenzi, who has been injured for several months.

However, the management always preach patience and remember that it took certain young players like Pierre Kalulu a while before establishing himself as a starter. The difference with Vranckx is that he has a few months to prove he is worth a €12m investment.
