GdS: The wait is over – Milan kick off new season with Rebic facing big responsibility

By Oliver Fisher -

The time for waiting is over as AC Milan will kick off their Serie A season this evening at San Siro against Udinese in front of a sell out crowd.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how there is great expectation heading into the season, but Stefano Pioli appeared rather calm yesterday at the press conference because he knows the strengths of his squad and he believes they are a complete group.

Both Olivier Giroud and Divock Origi are back but will start on the bench. The Frenchman recovered only yesterday from muscle fatigue and he has only one real training session in his legs, while the Belgian has been working with the rest of the for a few days already, but he hasn’t played a minute yet this summer.

It will therefore be up to Ante Rebic to lead the front line and he is one of three players that Pioli named as doing best in preseason. In front of 70,000 spectators, it will therefore be up to the Croatian to try and fire Milan to victory, along with Rafael Leao, Messias and others.
