The new stadium project continues to have more uncertainties than certainties and the idea of moving the plans to another part of the city remains.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report how the recent words of Mayor Beppe Sala have certainly not suggested a conclusion is close: “I think we’ll go to the City Council in a year or so to decide on the stadium. Now, unfortunately, this history of the stadium is so troubled that my intention is to take it one step at a time.”

The public debate is in full swing and the start of the process reassured Milan and Inter. The debate process will end on November 18, after which the co-ordinator Pillon will deliver the report to the council, which will draw its consequences. Only then will the two clubs be able to finalise the executive project.
Up to now there has been nothing final from an executive point of view and while we know Populous will design the new stadium, the project has already changed shape and structure several times compared to the originally imagined Cathedral.
The second issue to resolve is regarding the fate of the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, an issue that the clubs thought they had overcome, because in this sense the situation is clear: Milan and Inter will remain in the San Siro area only if the current stadium is demolished because two neighbouring stadiums – even if one were only partially standing – is not considered sustainable.
However, the position taken by the new Undersecretary for Culture, Vittorio Sgarbi, is a worry: “The Meazza cannot be touched and Sgarbi does not say so but the law. It is naturally constrained because the constraint would be automatic beyond the age of 70, it cannot be torn down. If you need a bond I will make it.”
Sala replied to Sgarbi today: “The San Siro stadium was examined by the superintendence for a long time and it was defined that it was not binding. If Sgarbi also wants to be a superintendent, ask the Prime Minister.”
Matteo Salvini also spoke on the subject: “Years lost between controversies and postponements. Milan risks losing billions of euros in investments. Milan, Inter and above all the fans have also brought too much patience: say yes to the new San Siro immediately or choose an alternative solution.”
The Milanese mayor replied also to Salvini: “All these utterances about the stadium do not help the teams. Salvini said yesterday that there is a risk of going to Sesto San Giovanni because the Council has wasted time. The City have not wasted a day of time. It took us two years to find an agreement with the teams on volumes.”
The two clubs have a Plan B has been in preparation for some time. Milan and Inter have always made it clear that if the times were too long they would consider moving, so the hypothesis that leads to Sesto San Giovanni remains very much alive.
The former Falck steelworks area has basically been left open as a site by mayor Roberto Di Stefano who has not changed his mind one iota regarding the site being very much welcome for the clubs.

Time to give the middle finger to city council and move on to Sesto.
Sesto olease asap. New stadium seems even more complicated than leao’s contract extension. City council can think of growing veggies in san siro. Build a new stadium by your self in sesto red bird. Enjoy the rewards after.
Sesto San Giovanni’s area is better from logistic point cause it’s right there by main E64 highway at the entrance of Milano from east. But Casa Milan is in San Siro area so that would be a big miss.
