MN: A well-earned renewal and World Cup dreams – Tomori enters 2022-23 with momentum

By Oliver Fisher -

It is just over a year since Fikayo Tomori signed for AC Milan on a permanent deal from Chelsea, and now he is ready to sign another contract.

MilanNews writes that a meeting that took place yesterday at Casa Milan between the player’s entourage and the Rossoneri management during which a verbal agreement was reached over a contract extension.

The current deadline of 2025 will be extended to 2027 and the Englishman will go from earning €2m net per season to around €3.5m per year, a substantial salary increase for a player who is now a pillar of Milan’s defense.

Tomori has nailed down a starting spot with Milan, helped them win their first Scudetto for 11 years and is now aiming for a spot in the England squas for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

First though the hurdle of Udinese are approaching, a team that Milan have failed to beat in their last three league meetings (all ending 1-1) but must do on Saturday to begin their title defence in the right way.

The renewal that Tomori will sign is a certificate of esteem for a player who can be considered a real leader, and the hope is that 2022-23 can demonstrate further growth.
