Igli Tare

CM: What Milan want from their next sporting director and why one candidate stands out

AC Milan will hire a new sporting director in the summer, and at the moment, one candidate is standing out, and there are a few key reasons why.

Across the board, Milan need a rebuild after the half-effort the club made this season. In the summer, transfers were not enough, and in January, signings were too late. As a result, the Rossoneri now sit well away from the chances of European football.

For this reason, a new head will be brought in to oversee the club’s sporting operations, and at present, that is seemingly Igli Tare, who was formerly the sporting director of Lazio. But why may the club have decided to go for the Albanian?

Tare, as reported by Calciomercato.com, has two principles: organisation and trust in partnerships. Having previously been in the Lazio management for 15 years, this is not a short-term plan and it seems that the club are probably looking for a longer-term rebuild and then success period under Tare’s watch.

Organisation is done in a ‘triangle’ system under his watch, and he is known for regularly communicating with ownership and technical staff, in other words, another vessel, though this time for the sporting operations.

Confident on ‘relying and trusting collaborators’, and this means that he will pay a lot of attention to the club’s scouting operation, with the report even deeming his methods as ‘maniacal’ in some capacities.

Finally, his methods work to keep strictly in budget, and this is what will be another huge factor for Milan. In his time with Lazio, he won five of the six trophies of the Claudio Lotito era, and this was by buying the right players, at the right time, for the right price. Something which the Rossoneri are desperate for.

    1. Boooo back to you.

If you booo to Tare and his documented insane financial and players portofolio then I do not understand what exactly you are looking for?

  1. Ibra’s friend = instant boo, Tare does not need to prove anything to anyone. At this point even changing the management is not gonna do any good. Things will only change after RedTurd defaults on the loan or sells the club.

  2. Tare is a mixed bag, though he has potential. In his first years at Lazio Tare was successful, but in the last period he was not doing well and made a few blunders. On other hand, he has experience with working with a small budget, and overall he had good relations with Lazio’s players and had their respect.

    1. Small budget with low quality player that does not fit into the Milan world.

You cant compare the prize of players then to now. a 20m player back then when he joined Lazio are more of a quality player…. Now suck players are being sold for minimum of 35m

      1. Yes, but even at the time Lazio had a small transfer budget for Tare.
How many players has Gerry so far bought for at least 35 mln? Tare at Milan for each transfer would have a small budget in today’s standards. Unless Gerry changes strategy and is ready to spend big on single players.

    2. OK, Let’s put you to the test. Go and find figures of successful sporting directors and find me one that is more successful then him.

I will give you a hing, in Italy you will not find, and if you search Europe he will be 2nd

Now I know this for a fact, but feelings are feelings. I can not help you there

    3. Everyone is a mixed bag.
Marotta has blunders, Giuntolli has blunders, Galliani had blunders, Moggi had blunders.
No one is perfect. Tare was working at Lazio with peanuts.

      1. I am not saying he is bad; as you say, nobody is perfect after all. I just made my evaluation of his profile. If I were a Milan fan, I would be more concerned about the situation within the club than Tare’s CV. For example, if Ibra interferes in SD’s work, no matter who he is, his work will be derailed anyway. The working environment either will make or break it.

  3. I don’t have strong feelings either way on Tare. But at the bare minimum he is a professional that knows Italy and knows Serie A. Which is not something we’ve had since Maldini.

It seems like he was successful at Lazio when you look at the context of the resources available to him and the ambitions of the club.

At Milan he will have more resources (hopefully) and he will certainly have higher expectations.

If it were me I’d bring the guy from Atalanta, but it seems like we could certainly do worse than Tare. Although I don’t love that he seems to be Ibra’s choice. Maybe that is just guilt by association, but Ibra is an empty suit.

  4. Oh my, until when i need to wait redbird going out of milan. They just destroy milan and still trying to make half effort only to show gery cardinalle is half brainless.

  5. It looks like we’re going to go down for another 2 seasons because if Lazio’s management is any good, how many years have Lazio’s managers and they never qualify a champion’s league or European league they always 9 or 8 position so be yet
