Sergio Conceicao, Head Coach of FC Porto

Tuttosport: Atmospheric pressure – why Conceicao’s position is already ‘in the balance’

The derby against Inter on Sunday could already be decisive in determining the fate of Sergio Conceicao, according to a report.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanPress), the defeat against Dinamo Zagreb – which saw Milan drop from sixth in the Champions League standings to 13th – has put the team back into ‘full crisis’ and Conceicao’s position is ‘now in the balance’.

However, the coach is not at risk because of the results obtained (he has won five of eight games so far) but because the negative and nervous atmosphere that is being created around the team. The coach’s tough line has raised awareness but has also put the team on edge.

For example, the spat with Davide Calabria at full-time in the Parma game was an undesirable incident, then Yunus Musah got a red card during the Dinamo loss and Alvaro Morata has asked to leave because he doesn’t get along with the ex-Porto boss.

Yesterday the management spoke with the coach and the team at Milanello to understand what the problems are and to find possible solutions. Conceicao himself spoke about the difficulty in his work because the fundamentals are missing, which are hard to change after so few training sessions.

Sunday’s derby will therefore represent another crossroads in the season. If Conceicao were to continue to arouse doubts, the club could turn to Edin Terzic or Xavi, or even someone like Max Allegri who knows the Italian league.

  1. One of the clubs I follow in my native country had once 6 coaches in a single season. To the shock of everyone, that season didn’t go well and none of the coaches produced something that looked like a good result.

  2. Perhaps part of the negative atmosphere is because of unrealistic expectation setting by the board, complete lack of established sporting direction, complaints from fan groups over ticket prices and the constant speculation and scapegoating over short term coaches?

  3. Everyone is depressed because we missed a few millions of dollars. F that. We were probably not going to invest all of it into the squad anyways.

The goal now should be top 4 in seria a. And we need the fans to start backing the team, regardless of their sentiments towards the management. Look what a difference it made in Saudi Arabia.

    1. Your words are a paradox. You say fck the money, and that they never would have input that money back into the transfers. If so why would anyone get behind such team or management.

If the team would not be improved, why get behind them. It would just be the same continously supporting a beaten and dead project that would go nowhere.

And you use Saudi, they have money to ensure their goals and wants come to fruition. Or better still they are willing to spend, invest and get the necessary and right hands to get such goals to success. Getting behind such likes is admirable and shows promise of positivity.

What positives has this lackluster team and incompetent management and ownership shown to benefit getting behind them, even till now they continue to sabotage Ac Milan.

I am sorry. I love AC Milan but I cannot in good faith instruct anyone to be fired up or throw all their support behind this… Whatever this milan iteration is, I can only say people should do what they think is best.

Lord knows this ownership and its management has burned all bridges of goodwill that would have been standing.

  4. Our squad is not balance we need players like Chaka Traore for attacking midfield to support leao and chukwueze we need omoregbe,we need a balanced in our 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2 but I don’t understand Acmilan management but thanks for conceicao but we need to improve our attack. we need attackers that can score more than 4 to 5 goals so let’s resolve our issues before champions league play off.

  5. Yes this is definitely that type of true article 😀 I know our management are crazy and amateurs, but if there is anybody who think they change Coach after 1 month then he is crazy( with Supercoppa win and really from 8 games 5W 1D 2L he has definitely better start then Fonseca with 2 month preparation. Fonseca collect ”11 points” while Conceicao “16 points” from view of points per game..
There is obviously problem in players , Zlatan knows it ,that’s why they try sell all of this players like Morata , Calabria also Tomori, Okafor or Chuk, RLC and Emerson.. they are not upgrade and mentally they can’t help this team..
    My opinion
