AC Milan are likely to be looking for a new head coach in the summer, and Roberto De Zerbi’s name has reportedly resurfaced as an option.
According to Calciomercato.com, Sergio Conceicao knows he has little, if any, hope of remaining at Milan beyond the end of this season, so he has 11 games to end on a high. The idea of the Milan directors is to get to the end of the season with the former Porto man on the bench, then change again.
With Milan out of the Champions League and in ninth place, the only goal left is to win the Coppa Italia. The Rossoneri will have a two-legged derby against Inter in the semi-finals which represents the last way to at least partially save a mediocre season from all points of view.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada hope that at least in those two games the team can have a reaction of pride, convinced that the real Milan is not what has been seen in the disastrous past few weeks.
Who might replace Conceicao? A name that has returned ‘loudly’ is De Zerbi. The Brescia-born coach is doing very well at Marseille, who are currently second in the Ligue 1 standings, but could change clubs again at the end of the season after leaving Brighton last summer.
The call from the Rossoneri would not leave him indifferent given his attachment and the fact he was in the youth sector. Milan admire him because he has shown he can handle pressure and has as a renowned ability to make his teams play well.
The directors are aware that Milan next season must rekindle enthusiasm and excitement, to entertain the fans and to make them dream. Winning is the priority, but the toxic atmosphere could heal quicker with a figure like RDZ on the bench.
De Zerbi idea is gaining momentum because it was the right thing to do in the summer! He was out of a job and literally waiting for Milan to call him and they went with Fonseca instead. The club is so badly managed on the executive level that poor Fonseca and Conceicao have merely become sacrificial lambs.
Because De zerbi is the kind who makes decisions and demands
And ofc Furlani and Ibra what someone who shuts his mouth and doesn’t make transfer suggestions
I agree . They should have recruited him if they knew how good he is
There couldn’t be a bigger admission of upper management failure than if they decided this was the solution…
This simple idea of always fumbling around shows just how unserious the management of this team is. First Fonseca, then Conceição, and now RDZ. Why not just start with the last one in the first place?
De Zerbi sounds exciting, but he isn’t perfect. I remember he was complaining about getting new players at Brighton to add some depth in the team. Him vs. Today’s Milan management? Hmm..
Comments like these are stupid as f***. Milan have spent money and bought players these last 5 transfer windows. How much should they spend, 200 300 in a window? Maybe the issues aren’t as easily as they are cheap (because that is clearly not the case). Seems like team construction is more the issue, seems like a lack of support from a petulant fan base is a major issue, seems like luck has been especially poor this season. There are so many things to point to yet you point to the one thing that isn’t true 🤯
Indeed. I mean, you can blame the management for a lot of things, but not that they don’t spend money.
But can be blamed for poor decision-making tho!
So? We had Chinese who spent nearly the same amount but crashed as well. No one is yelling spend like crazy. They already did that. We’ve got 18 new players in last 2 and a half seasons for combined 250 millions more or less, from which 3 turned out good. Statistical odds even you and I or anyone here would achieve.
There’s no plan in place with this management. That includes Gerry too because he’s the shot caller. They inherited a team that only needed few puzzles to continue their rise. But they were like no thanks, we’re good, we’ll write our own story. Fueled by ego and narcissism. Some story they’re writing.
That stooge uberhulk likes to make excuses such as “they are inexperienced”. We’re talking about folks who have billions of dollars portfolio in entertainment and sports. No, they’re not inexperienced. They’re egoists that thought they know better and will revolutionise Italian football with their yank way of doing business. Funny guys. Here’s the outcome. Are you not entertained?
Sadly true!
Remember when I was young and so were you…
Ted in the real world perfect doesn’t really exist. What you should be looking for is someone intelligent enough to create a winning culture and get this lazy atmosphere out of our club.
No one fears Milan not even Monza!
ManUtd have the same problem.
DeZerbi comes in he will install discipline and desire to fight for every ball were ever on the park!
Former liverpol coach klop is best for lazy Milan
the problem is still the same, every one wants to be the “Hero” and have a highlight while no one wants to mark or defend… we had Tonali and Kessie that did the heavy lifting, now no one defends…
Tiji, Leao, Puli need to attack, Gimenez is penalty area striker, but the who defends? Fofana isn’t CDM, Musah is sorry but just brain-dead… Bondo has yet to show what he can do, RLC is just useless… that’s our current midfield ffs…
Theo and Jimenez are too attack-minded, I would see Theo just strolling in central area, watching others do the work…
3-4-3 or just fixing double-pivot with Ricci+Frendrup is a must… maybe some fullbacks on left should be scouted or Bartesaghi should play more…
I would even take Tiji-Fofafa-Bondo-Jimenez with Leao-Gimenez-Puli front 3 and Pavlovic-Gabbia-Walker back 3… take the arm-band from Mike, I think he can’t captain and focus on the game at the same time. Give Gabbia the badge and some respect, only one that speaks facts…
Firing Pioli could’ve only be justified by hiring De Zerby. Meaning only De Zerbi, nobody else.
I told since Pioli coaching at Milan. Milan must have coaching who can handling young potential player caused have no big transfer fund. N coach like De Zerbi, Ten Hag, Klopp, can handle it when they work at EPL n Eredivise n they succeed. Milan lost the moment when De Zerby out from Brighton.
Sergio Conceicao is the best choice. No reason to dig a hole by letting him go.
This coaching merry-go-round doesn’t do anything.
Pioli had a 2 month covid break to train his team and drill his tactics into those players of his. Fonseca had the time, but he got into fights with the “Star Players”. Conceicao has the lockeroom, but he hasn’t had the time to train his players and implement his ideas (because we’ve been playing 18 or 19 games since Jan 2nd).
If Milan fans want a serious project, back a coach until he implements his style of play and the players actually learn it. This desperation for instant gratification/success is ridiculous, especially given the schedule the players had to play and how poorly this squad was constructed in the Summer (by another coach, who plays another style entirely).
Here we go and again. Looking at a manager that won nothing in his career. Same thing happened with Pioli, he won nothing before the scudetto won in Milan with the managerial work from Maldini and Ibrahimovic champion mentality as a player.
Fabregas is in the same boat too.
We nee proving Milan Sarri, Allegri, even Xavi because he won the league with Average Barcelona squad
You must pay compensation to Marseille if want de zerbi. He is ACM fans and will give his best for ACM
Well if De Zerbi comes in summer, its good.
But we must remember, that he is not world class coach, but have potential. So we must be patient on him.
And please the management give him the players that he want, not just bring players based on super computer or Moncada decision again.
Milan need an Italian coach. RDZ is qualified.
We need Italian players as the core of the team.
Theo and Leao should be sold, Tomori too.
Fofana should be drilled because he has become very fat.
We need Italians who knows the pride and worth of the Milan jersey.
I agree 💯
