There is the need for a reboot of Milan’s attack, given that Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic put together numbers that are not satisfactory. The top scorers last season were Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders, while Santiago Gimenez needs time to adapt.
Thus, in recent weeks there has been talk of the Rossoneri being in the market for a new centre-forward, one who can guarantee double digits in goals per season.
Milan turn to Mitrovic
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via SpazioMilan) this morning, the candidacy of Mitrovic is rising, a Serbian striker who – after a long period in England – has been at Al-Hilal for two years but is thinking of returning to Europe.
The terms of the deal, at least as far as the transfer fee is concerned, would not be unfavourable. There is talk of a figure around €20m but the salary would still be quite high, in the region of €5m net per year.
Nonetheless, Mitrovic is an experienced profile and he has a fantastic scoring record (111 goals in 206 games for Fulham, 68 in 79 for Al-Hilal), which could be ideal. Also because the difficulties for the other strikers on the radar are even greater.
Atalanta want around €50-60m for Mateo Retegui and more or less the same outlay is required for Darwin Nunez, who is also wanted by Napoli. Viktor Gyokeres is not even worth talking about, Moise Kean also costs a lot, leaving only Dusan Vlahovic as a credible alternative.
