There are still details needing to be worked out by Paulo Fonseca ahead of Juventus’ visit to San Siro as they face AC Milan on Saturday.
Milan have already played several games of high importance this season. However, it could be argued that tomorrow’s could be the biggest.
The Rossoneri sit in a perilous position. Six points separate themselves and Juventus. A gap which must be shortened tomorrow night.
For this reason, Fonseca is allowing the squad to prove themselves more, and delaying making decisions about starters.
Earlier this week, it seemed that there were three options in the Portuguese head coach’s head, but it now seems that there are two.
As Sky have reported, via Milan Press, the decision to revert to a 4-3-3 has been left behind. Instead, the 4-2-3-1 will remain.
Christian Pulisic should be moved centrally, given the continued success he has been finding in the role.
On the right, Samuel Chukwueze and Yunus Musah are competing. The Nigerian offers a more offensive option, whereas Musah could allow the Diavolo to soak up more pressure by allowing changes to a five-back system.
Fonseca is still yet to decide which approach to take into the fixture, but his decision will be known when the lineups are announced.
i dont like 4231. we dont have pivots. we dont have an AM. but sure lets keep beating the head against the wall. maybe one brick will come lose someday. or we get brain damage.. for some milan fans that would be an improvment anyway. you know who you are 😉
Pulisic is clearly not comfortable as an attacking midfielder, he can play it from time to time but that is not his position. I don’t understand what success they’re talking about. Every since he was turned into an attacking midfielder, he went from scoring every game to barely having an assist. In the last game against Cagliari, his only goal contribution happened when he was moved again to the right.
Reijnders has also shown than he’d rather play deep but also have no midfielder in front of him (his best games were within a 4-4-2 and a 3-4-3/4-3-3).
Chukwueze sucks and Musah is not a right winger.
So I don’t understand this article and I hope this is just a rumor.
Play Puli. But if we don’t, play Chuk cuz he scored on international duty. Musah should be put on the right side of midfield in a 433.
I wrote a longer piece in the other article specifically about Pulisic – “Late tests for Pulisic as starting spot uncertainty remains for Milan-Juve” – that he had been absolutely PUMMELED in the two matches against Jamaica as Jamaica was clearly targeting him and going all out to try and injure him, and the awful CONCACAF refs did nothing to protect him or call any fouls even.
So I’m pretty sure he is one giant solid bruise, and hopefully not much more than that. He might have a cracked rib or two since he got elbowed and body slammed several times.
That’s where the uncertainty is about whether he is going to start or not.
